Scope and Contents
The Jane Tiedge papers, 1994-1998 and undated, contains Tiedge's student essays, including those on Sister Ingeborg Nystul, a diary of her trip to China in 1998, and miscellaneous items. The collection consists of three series: Academic, Trip to China, and Miscellaneous.
The Academic series, 1968-1996 and undated, contains student essays written by Tiedge about Sissieretta Jones (aka Black Patti), Ross Paulson, and Ingeborg Nystul. Also included is a lengthy essay on Sissieretta Jones by Wilia Estelle Daughtry that Tiedge consulted as a secondary source.
The Trip to China series, 1998, contains a typewritten diary documenting Tiedge's experiences in China as well as articles and press releases about Tiedge's trip to China to research Nystul.
The Miscellaneous series contains undated budgets, a poem, and clipped obituaries.
