Swedish scrapbook, 1896

The collection of Augustana College scrapbooks, 1896; 1960-1965, consists of scrapbooks related to Augustana College assembled by persons or departments unknown. The scrapbooks consist mainly of newspapers clippings; three include general Augustana-related items, while two specifically cover Augustana sports. The scrapbook pages detail campus activities and events, Greek life, social events in the Quad Cities area, Augustana choir events, campus construction projects, student groups, professor accomplishments, homecoming events, and student awards. Most of the newspaper clippings discuss the scores and accomplishments of Augustana’s men’s athletic teams which include football, basketball, wrestling, track and field, baseball, golf, swimming, and tennis. The newspaper clippings originate primarily from newspaper companies in the Quad Cities area, but also include a few newspaper clippings published in other parts of Illinois. These newspaper companies include: Times-Democrat (now the Quad City Times), Moline Dispatch, Rock Island Argus, Davenport Daily Times, Bettendorf News, East Moline Herald, Des Moines Register, Iowa Synod Lutheran, Lutheran Companion, La Crosse Tribune, Bloomington Pantagraph, Woodhull Dispatch, Kankakee Daily Journal, Chicago Daily News, and Chicago Tribune.
