“Vacation On the Coast” Quad Cities USA

Realia, 1896-1990 and undated, includes buttons, tokens, matchbooks, and other objects related to the Quad Cities, including commemorative items for events and anniversaries, political and World War I campaign buttons, and advertising material for local business and organizations. This series has been divided into six subseries:

Campaign Buttons, 1896-circa 1980s and undated, consists of campaign buttons for local, state, and national elections and political parties.

World War I buttons, 1917-1918, contains buttons related to the American war effort and supporting organizations.

Local Events buttons, 1912-1990 and undated, consists of buttons commemorating local anniversaries, festivals, meetings, sports matchups, and other events.

Local business and organization buttons, 1897-1943 and undated, contains buttons related to Quad Cities businesses and organizations. Also included is a room key from the LeClaire Hotel in Moline, Illinois.

Tokens, 1915-1992 and undated:, contains commemorative coins, tokens, and other coinage issued by local businesses and organizations.

Finally, there are two boxes of matchbooks advertising Quad Cities hotels, restaurants, and businesses.
