Abstract The Kappa Epsilon Nu sorority, known as both the “Kens” and the “Kappas”, was established as a sorority at Augustana College in 1925 by Leota J. Norton, Ester Woodburn, Florence Tams, Eleanor Graham, Ethel Eldrige, Charlotte Schnathoist, Kay Bragg, Helen Searle, Natalie Souders, and Frances Long. Abstract The Kappa Epsilon sorority, nicknamed the “Keys”, was founded at Augustana College in 1913 by six young women. The group changed its name from “Qui Est Qui” to Kappa Epsilon when it became an official Greek group in 1919. The Keys gave up their charter in the mid-1990s after years of declining membership. Abstract

Arthur “Brownie” Larson was born in Rockford, Illinois. He enrolled in the Augustana Academy in 1914 and took a brief break to serve in the Navy during World War I. He returned to Rock Island and attended Augustana College from 1918 to 1922. The Augustana College Office of Development collection on Arthur Larson contains papers about Larson's life collected by the Development Office, including photographs, programs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and a plaque.

Abstract Erleen “Lindy” Lindeman transferred to Augustana College in 1941 after completing her first two years at Bethany College. She graduated in 1943 with a degree in English. While at Augustana, she sang in the Augustana Choir and Handel Oratorio Society, participated in a number of religious organizations, athletic groups, and women's clubs, and was a member of the Kappa Tau sorority. The Lyceum records

Abstract

The Lyceum was formed by two rival literary groups at Augustana College, the Adelphic and Phrenokosmian societies, in order to create a lecture and concert series. The first recorded minutes of the Board of the Lyceum of Augustana College and Theological Seminary date from 1892, but there is evidence that the group existed as early as 1890. The Lyceum records, 1892-1931 and undated, has been arranged into three series: Lyceum general body; Lyceum Board of Directors; and ephemera.

Abstract

Norman "Norm" Moline was a member of Augustana College's graduating class of 1964. After graduating, Moline did summer admissions work for the college for several years before joining the faculty as a full time geography professor in 1968. The Norman Moline papers, 1960-1971, primarily includes materials related to Augustana College orientation programs in the early 1960s, in addition to event programs, clippings, and other papers.
