Abstract On 16 October 1946, the wives of Augustana College faculty members, women faculty members, and women in the administration organized the social group first known as the Augustana Dames. The women agreed to meet five times per year and pay annual dues of one dollar. A constitution was adopted in 1964. The group changed its name to the Augustana Women in 1984. Conrad Bergendoff papers

Abstract Conrad Bergendoff was the fifth president of Augustana College. Bergendoff was born in rural Nebraska in 1895. He attended Augustana College, and was a member of the class of 1915. He also earned a divinity degree from Augustana Seminary. After several years Bergendoff returned to the seminary as the dean, then as the president of the seminary and the college in 1935. Abstract Betsey Brodahl was born and raised in Wahoo, Nebraska, where she attended grade school and high school and one year at Luther College. Upon the urging of two instructors at Luther College, Brodahl applied at Augustana College to continue her college education. She was accepted, and graduated with a B. A. in history in 1944. Abstract Olof Zakarias Cervin graduated from Augustana College in 1887 and went on to study architecture at Columbia University. After working as an architect in various cities, Olof returned to Rock Island and established his own architecture firm on 1 April 1896. Theodore Celms, Augustana College professor from 1949 to 1963 and 1967 to 1973, was one of the many scholars evacuated from Eastern Europe during World War II. The Robert Cooper collection on Theodore Celms consists of photocopies of several short biographical articles on Dr. Celms, including announcements about his death, and photocopies of Cooper's class notes from Celms's 1961 Philosophy of Culture course.

Abstract Earth Interpreters: F. M. Fryxell, Geology, and Augustana was published by the Augustana College Library in 1992 as a tribute to Fritiof M.
