Abstract The Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist papers, 1840-1988 and undated, primarily documents the personal and professional life of the second president of Augustana College, Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist. Hasselquist was born in Sweden in 1816 and traveled to America in 1852. Before assuming the presidency of the college in 1863, Hasselquist was the president of the Augustana Synod, the editor of a Swedish-language newspaper, and a pastor. Frank Theodore Hillstrom was a graduate of Augustana Business College in 1896 and Des Moines Business College in 1899. He was active in the lumber industry in Colorado and New Mexico. This collection primarily relates to Hillstrom's early life and includes papers from his time at Augustana Business College, postcards, and photographs of his family and home.

Iduna Society records

Abstract

The Iduna Society was founded 21 November 1902 and disbanded in the academic year 1925-1926. It was one of five Augustana College societies dedicated to the further exploration of the Swedish language through Swedish literature. The Iduna Society records, 1907-1922 and undated, contains three handwritten copies of the group's monthly publication, "Iduna," in Swedish, a bound book of meeting minutes in Swedish, and several miscellaneous documents in both English and Swedish.

Inter-Sorority Council meeting minutes

Abstract The Inter-Sorority Council was founded in the fall of 1929 as the governing body of the Augustana College sororities. The council, at the time of its founding, consisted of two officers, a President and a Secretary-Treasurer; two representatives of each of the sororities; two faculty members; and the current Dean of Women. Allen H. Johnson graduated from Augustana College in 1929. While at Augustana, Johnson worked part time at the Augustana Book Concern and upon graduation, he became a full time cashier and payroll manager. Augustana College Office of Development collection on Arthur Larson

Abstract

Arthur “Brownie” Larson was born in Rockford, Illinois. He enrolled in the Augustana Academy in 1914 and took a brief break to serve in the Navy during World War I. He returned to Rock Island and attended Augustana College from 1918 to 1922. The Augustana College Office of Development collection on Arthur Larson contains papers about Larson's life collected by the Development Office, including photographs, programs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and a plaque.

Le Cercle Francais was initiated in November 1921. The club promoted the use and understanding of the French language outside the classroom. The Le Cercle Francais records, 1921-1922, consists of one bound book that contains the Secretary's report. This report contains the constitution for the club, membership lists, and a record of the club minutes, all written in French.
