One of Paulson's primary research interests was women's history. The Women's History subseries (1849-2000) contains research materials, notes, and drafts related to his research in this area. Topics include Prohibition, woman suffrage, feminism, women's issues in Asian and European countries, women's rights, women's labor movements, biographies of notable women, women in the Quad Cities, the Girl Scouts of America, and the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848.
