The Ken Brink collection of Black Hawk Hiking Club slides dates from 1962 to 1995. The collection contains 35mm slide photographs taken by Brink during the Big Hikes he attended. The club traveled to a variety of domestic and international destinations for these trips, including Glacier National Park, the Grand Canyon, Canada, and Russia.

Historical Note

Ken Brink (1913-2001) was a lifelong resident of Moline and spent his professional life as a cost accountant at John Deere. He was an active member of Plymouth Congregational Church, where his father was the minister, until the church dissolved. Brink then became a member of First Congregational Church, where he continued to be an active member of the congregation and the church choir. Always an outdoors man, Brink joined the Black Hawk Hiking Club in the late 1940s. He was a 50-year member of the Club, and he participated in numerous "Big Hikes" over a span of three decades. Brink, in his retirement, volunteered at Augustana College Special Collections.
