Abstract
Louise Nathanson (née Meiszner) was a world-renowned pianist active in the mid-twentieth century. The daughter of Hungarian immigrants, Nathanson hailed from St. Louis, Missouri, and performed as a soloist for many notable ensembles, including the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and the Phil Spitalny All Girl Orchestra. Abstract
The Quad City Symphony Orchestra held its first concert on May 19, 1916 at the Burtis Opera House in Davenport, Iowa. At the time, the orchestra was known as the Tri-City Symphony Orchestra, and had a conductor, 60 musicians, and two soloists. The group changed its name to the Quad City Symphony in 1985.
