Abstract

The Augustana College Magazine is the alumni magazine of Augustana College. It began in 1907 as the Augustana Bulletin, and became the Augustana College Magazine in 1979. The magazine has been published monthly, quarterly, and biannually. The collection contains materials from Ann Boaden’s tenure as editor of the magazine, including correspondence, story manuscripts, newspaper clippings, photographs, interviews, and subject files.

Abstract The Augustana Historical Society was founded in 1930 with the goal of preserving documents and artifacts related to Scandinavian and Lutheran history. By 1996, the group had revised its mission as being to: "locate, gather, preserve, and publish literary materials bearing on the history of Augustana College, on the relationships of the college to the Lutheran Church, on the history of Swedish immigration to the United States, and on cultural connections between the United States and Sweden."...

Abstract Ann Boaden is a retired instructor in Augustana College's Department of English. Boaden collected these materials on Emmy Evald while researching female figures in Augustana’s history for her book, Light and Leaven: Women Who Shaped Augustana’s First Century. Ann Boaden is a retired Augustana College faculty member. She taught in the English Department, served as editor of the Augustana College Magazine, and served on the Augustana Historical Society’s board of directors. Boaden’s papers include research files, correspondence, notes, and writings.
