Scope and Contents
The Academic series, 1959-1973, 2012 and undated, contains materials relating to McKinley’s time as a student in the Avon, Illinois, school district and at Augustana College. The Academic series is divided into six subseries: Report Cards (1959-1970), Study Abroad (1969), Honors (1970 and undated), Graduation (1970 and undated), Augustana College (1970-1973, 2012, and undated), and Miscellaneous (1962-1970 and undated).
The Report Cards subseries contains McKinley’s report cards from elementary through high school. The Study Abroad subseries covers his 1969 trip to study in France and includes the classwork he produced, his correspondence with his family, and miscellaneous papers relating to the trip. The Honors subseries includes honors awarded to McKinley, mostly pertaining to music competitions, but also including an “Outstanding Teenager of America” award. The Graduation subseries includes a collection of mostly undated graduation cards. The Augustana College subseries contains articles about and programs for plays McKinley participated in as a student, as well as class work and the program for his recital “The Body in Motion.” This subseries also includes a 2012 Augustana Commencement program, for which McKinley was the commencement speaker. The Miscellaneous subseries contains classwork, 1962-1970, and materials relating to high school theatrical productions.
