Augustana College Magazine 125th anniversary editions, 1985
Scope and Contents
The Augustana College Quasquicentennial series, 1983-1985, commemorates the 125th anniversary of the 1860 founding of Augustana College in Chicago, Illinois. It has been arranged in the following subseries:
Official Proclamation, 1985, contains the official proclamation issued by the State of Illinois Executive Department commemorating Augustana College Day in honor of its 125th anniversary.
125th Anniversary Committee papers, 1983-1985, contains the papers produced to communicate about planning for the 125th anniversary, including notes, correspondence, schedules, and newsletters.
Programs, 1984-1985, includes music concert programs from Augustana groups and programs from events hosted by Augustana College in honor of the 125th Anniversary.
Promotional Materials, 1984-1985, contains materials promoting Augustana history and the Quasquientennial anniversary including a calendar of events in recognition of the 125th Anniversary; press releases, exhibit markings, and brochures about the history of Augustana College and its 125th Anniversary; and invitations to events, posters and flyers promoting concerts, plays, and exhibits, and announcements about the lecture series in honor of the 125th Anniversary.
Articles, 1984-1985, includes a variety of Quad City area newspaper articles promoting Augustana College history and events in honor of the 125th anniversary, advertisements for 125th anniversary events, and articles promoting the 1985 Augustana Choir Swedish Tour. In addition, this subseries includes two copies of the Augustana College Magazine commemorating the 125th anniversary.
“Härute – Out Here” Art Exhibit records, 1984-1985, contains records on the art exhibit in Centennial Art Gallery commemorating Augustana College’s Swedish roots in honor of its 125th anniversary. Items include newspaper articles and mailing advertisements promoting the exhibit, a catalogue of the exhibition, an announcement to faculty and staff about the exhibit, and newspaper articles about the exhibit.
Visit of Archbishop Bertil Werkström records, 1985, contains records commemorating the visit of Archbishop of Sweden, Bertil Werkström’s, visit to Augustana College in honor of the 125th anniversary of the college and the Augustana Lutheran Synod. Items include newspaper reports about Werkström’s visit, a memorandum from President Tredway to faculty and staff about the visit, and a flyer promoting the visit.
Audiovisual materials, 1985, consists of a video recording and a sound recording from the 125th Anniversary Service which took place at the Jenny Lind Chapel in Andover, IL on Sunday, 28 April 1985.
