Scope and Contents
The Augustana College Mortar Board records, 1940-1990 and undated, consists of two boxes of material. Box 1 contains the organizational records of the Aglaia Honor Society and the Mortar Board, as well as materials documenting the period of transition between the two groups. Aglaia Honor Society's records include the group's constitution; an outline of its initiation services; meeting minutes, 1940-1960; photocopies of news clippings, 1960; and correspondence concerning Aglaia's application for Mortar Board membership, 1946-1965. Mortar Board records include correspondence concerning the group's installation ceremony, 1965; annual reports, 1963-1987, including correspondence and other papers collected in preparing the reports; a copy of the nationally-distributed Mortar Board handbook, 1985-1987; and a 1990 call for nominations for Mortar Board membership issued to Augustana College faculty. Box 2 contains the Mortar Board's 1965 framed charter.
