Scope and Contents
The Augustana College Office of Academic Affairs records (1948-2015 and undated) has been arranged in the following series:
The Academic Policies and Programs records series (1948-2008 and undated) contains materials used for drafting and/or revising campus academic policies and programs. These items include various committees’ papers, class and college statistics, survey summaries, program proposals, correspondence regarding future academic plans for the college, and reports on academic programs and campus offices.
The Faculty Employment records series (1975-2017) contains Faculty Welfare Reports, tenure reviews, information about visiting foreign professors, Esther Rose A. Romarate and Mayamma Joseph, President’s Cabinet Binders, Faculty Newsletters, Faculty Retreat documents, New Faculty Reception records, grants, and salary information.
The Augustana College Faculty Handbook records series (1964-2000) contains copies of the faculty handbook from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, as well as documents used by Augustana faculty to draft the 2000 edition of the Faculty Handbook. Items include samples of other colleges’ and universities’ faculty handbooks, the Task Force committee’s meeting notes regarding revisions of the handbook, correspondence regarding the handbook, and revisions and drafts.
The Financial records series (1998-2005) contains budget statements, invoices, and correspondence relating to the creation and management of the college budget.
The Augustana College Board of Trustees series (1992-2007) contains Augustana College Board of Trustees binders from meetings, conferences, and retreats, and governing documents of the college used as references for the college’s constitution and bylaws by the Office of Academic Affairs.
The North Central Association Accreditation records series (1964-2006 and undated) ontains the materials compiled for the five Self-Study reports prepared by Augustana College for the NCA reviewers in 1964, 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2006.
The Church Relatedness series (1975-1997 and undated) contians articles and studies relating to the relationship of the Lutheran Church and the liberal arts.
The Lilly Faculty Seminar: Faith and Values series (1959-1962) contains faculty papers discussing the relationship between various disiplines, the liberal arts, and faith.
The addition of 2014 (1984-2013) includes proceedings of the Celebration of Learning, a General Education Committee notebook, Lily Endowment grant papers, and other loose papers and ephemera.
The addition of 2015 (2008-2011) contains records related to Convocation and the Humanities Fund.
The addition of 2016 (1963-2015) contains North Central Association planning documents, faculty handbook drafts, reports related to the Augustana curriculum, and the Office of Academic Affairs' file on Thomas Tredway, seventh president of Augustana College.
The addition of 2017 (1949-2004) contains accreditation reports, policies and procedures manuals, committee reports, attrition reports and dropout lists, student surveys, and information on the establishment of the Foundations program.
