Scope and Contents
The final series in the collection, audiovisual recordings and computer files, 1906-2010 and undated, contains sound recordings, video recordings, and computer discs in various formats. Among the sound recordings are 13 transcription discs primarily consisting of interviews with Augustana College faculty members and leaders of the Augustana Synod and various pieces of music, presumably performed by Augustana College ensembles. AV box 2 contains recordings of the proceedings of the 1948 Swedish Pioneer Centennial, held in Chicago, Illinois, and attended by President Harry S. Truman, Prince Bertil of Sweden, and Carl Sandburg, among other attendees. Other recordings of interest include Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Pacem in Terris Award acceptance speech given in Davenport, Iowa, in April 1965; Prince William of Sweden's 1927 visit to Rock Island and the Hauberg home, created by John Henry Hauberg; various recordings of popular songs and operatic pieces from the early 1900s; several audiocassettes related to the activities and history of the Black Hawk Hiking Club; and two promotional films produced by the International Harvester corporation advertising various products and telling the company's history.
