Erleen Lindeman scrapbook
Scope and Contents
The Erleen Lindeman scrapbook, 1941-1943, contains keepsakes and photographs from Lindeman's time at Augustana. Included are programs from concerts and events on campus, invitations to sorority events, bulletins, and handbooks dating from the early 1940s, as well as photographs of Lindeman with friends at school and on vacation in California, New York and other locations. There is also a copy of a letter offering Lindeman a job in Salina Public Schools in Salina, Kansas.

Historical Note
Erleen “Lindy” Lindeman transferred to Augustana College in 1941 after completing her first two years at Bethany College. She graduated in 1943 with a degree in English. While at Augustana, she sang in the Augustana Choir and Handel Oratorio Society. She was very involved in religious organizations and was a member of the Lutheran Student Association, Religious Board, Campus Devotion, and Berean Bible Class of which she was president her senior year. She participated in the Women’s Athletic Association, Women’s League, and the Augustana Art Association. Lindeman was also a member of Phi Kappa Delta, the professional education honorary, and the Kappa Tau sorority, for which she served as treasurer in the fall of her senior year.

Lindeman's scrapbook was created and is maintained in its original order by theme (such as musical programs and sorority invitations). Unattached items were placed in the scrapbook according to the theme of the page.
Custodial History
This scrapbook was found in a house near Sorensen Hall that was about to be torn down. There is no information on how the scrapbooks came in the possession of Augustana College.
