Historical Note
The Social Committee was organized in 1937, replacing the former Board of Control of Social Activities. The group claimed to "ignore organizational frontiers, including all students in its plans." At its inception, the student members of the committee were appointed by the executvie committee of the Students' Union, while faculty committee members were appointed by Dr. Bergendoff. The committee planned numerous all-school social events throughout the school year, including Halloween and Christmas parties and a Spring picnic.
