Historical Note
S.O.S. was a women’s service organization at Augustana College from 1971 until 1974. S.O.S. was briefly the counterpart to the all-male Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, until the two groups merged in the mid-1970s. S.O.S. was approved as an organization in March 1971. The group’s purpose was to create interest and participation in community involvement. S.O.S. worked with Alpha Phi Omega on certain projects and initiated its own service projects such as the Easter Seal Drive, a cancer fund drive, and Red Cross events.
