Augustana College Department of Social Work records
Abstract
The Augustana College Department of Social Work was established in 1973, when a new major in social work was created. The major was begun due to increased student interest in social work. Students had previously been able to have a concentration in social work with a sociology degree. The Council on Social Work Education accredited the program in 1983, and renewed the accreditation in 1990. By 1993, the department and major had been combined back into the Department of Sociology. Materials in this collection include documents related to creating a social work degree (including a list of current students, a notice of the faculty forum, a self-study report, an article on social work education, and correspondence to the president), and a reaccreditation self-study report.
