John Caldwell papers
Abstract
John Caldwell was born in Pennsylvania. He studied at St. Vincent College, Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where he earned his bachelor’s. He earned his master’s at the University of Pennsylvania, and his master’s of library science at Drexel University, Philadelphia. He worked in several college libraries, including Drew University, Madison, New Jersey; California Lutheran College, Thousand Oaks, California; and California State College, Stanislaus, California. In 1975, Caldwell accepted the directorship of Denkmann Memorial Library at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois. He remained the director of the library, as well as being a history professor, until his retirement in 1992. Caldwell has a wife, Clara Jane, as well as three children (Christina, Nathan, and Michael). Materials in this collection include proposals, faculty meeting minutes, reports, agendas, bookstore committee minutes, faculty senate minutes and agendas, memos, athletic board of control minutes and agendas, faculty research committee papers and proposals, and correspondence.
