Scope and Contents
The Mae Anderson papers, 1900-1925, consists of newspaper clippings and a scrapbook.
Newsprint Materials contains newspaper clippings and other loose, printed materials dating from 1900 to 1917. Included are news articles and photocopies of news articles covering the topics of lifestyle, fashion, entertainment, and consumerism. There are also examples of music lessons, sewing lessons, and handwriting practice.
The collection also includes Anderson's college scrapbook. Materials in the scrapbook include pictures of school activities and social life, with particular focus on various events and parties attended by Anderson.

Mae Anderson grew up in Monmouth, Illinois. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, 1918-1920 and 1923-1925 and obtained a degree in English. She stopped attending school after her sophomore year, but returned in 1923 and completed her degree in 1925. Anderson was involved in the Woman's Club, Phrenokosmian Society, and Berean Bible Society while at Augustana.
