Abstract
Josef Alfred Anderson (also spelled Joseph in some records) was born on July 10, 1868, in Lommaryd, Sweden. He immigrated to the United States in 1876, and began attending Augustana College and Theological Seminary in Rock Island, Illinois. Anderson earned his bachelor’s from the college in 1888, and his master’s in 1891. He then attended the seminary, and graduated in 1892. Anderson was ordained on June 5, 1892, in Lindsborg, Kansas. He was a minister for congregations in several different states. On September 23, 1896, Anderson married Ellen Carlson. They had five children together. Anderson died on October 9, 1939. This collection contains two scrapbooks of newspaper clippings in Swedish and English (one of which is a census report from 1875 with the clippings pasted over some of the pages), as well as loose newspaper clippings and dried flowers.
