Abstract

Richard Arvid Fryxell was born on September 18, 1934, in Moline, Illinois, to Carl and Lucille Fryxell. He attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1953. Fryxell earned his bachelor’s of divinity from the seminary in 1959. He moved to Minnesota, where he worked as a musician and composer. On June 1, 1957, Fryxell married Dorothy J. Selke. They had two children together. Fryxell died on October 5, 1960. Materials in this collection include music composed by Richard Fryxell, cards from an index of “musical disc records,” and programs from performances where his music was played.
