Richard A. Johnson papers
Abstract
Richard Johnson was a former student of Augustana College and an American Foreign Service agent during and after World War II. Johnson graduated from Augustana in 1932, and earned his master’s and doctorate at the University of Austin, Texas. He then traveled throughout Europe and South America as a member of the American Foreign Service (1940-1965). His collection includes educational records, official documents such as passports and commissions, personal and professional correspondence, news clippings, photographs, publications, reviews, and his manuscript, Below Stairs Diplomat: A Memoir of Life in the American Foreign Service.
