Biographical / Historical
Nels Johan Forsberg was a Lutheran pastor, former student of Augustana College and Theological Seminary, and a member of the Augustana College Board of Directors. Forsberg was born in 1855 in Persberg, Värmland, Sweden. He attended Augustana between 1885 and 1888, received his seminary education between 1888 and 1890, and was ordained in 1890. He earned his M.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1901, and his D.D. from Augustana College. Forsberg served on Augustana’s Board of Directors between 1911 and 1913. He was the secretary of the Board of Directors, at least from 1912 to 1913. Forsberg spoke at the commencement ceremonies at Augustana College in 1912. Forsberg married Elin S. Lindahl of Motala, Sweden. He died in 1929.
