Abstract
MSS 153 John Alfred Eckström papers, 1862-1948 John Alfred Eckström was born in Sweden in 1862, and immigrated to the United States in 1881. He attended Augustana College from 1882 until he graduated in 1889. That same year, Eckström was ordained as a Lutheran minister in the Augustana Synod. He served as a pastor for several congregations in the Midwest, and then retired in 1940. Eckström died in 1948. His collection includes autobiographical materials such as journals and news clippings, Augustana College catalogs, and a plastic clerical collar.
