Abstract

Tom Robin Harris was born in Nampa, Idaho. He attended Boise Junior College before earning his bachelor’s and master’s of music at Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. He then attended the University of Michigan for his doctorate. Harris also studied at the North German Organ Academy near Bremen, Germany. In 1968, Harris became a professor of organ and harpsichord at Augustana College. He was the school’s official organist, as well as the organist for the Handel Oratorio Society and the director of music at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Davenport, Iowa. Harris was a well-known composer and performer. In 1972, he was one of twenty organists selected to participate in the Grand Prix de Chartres – an international organ competition in France. This collection consists of musical pieces composed by Tom Robin Harris, as well as programs of events where his music was performed.
