Abstract
This collection contains information concerning the American Association of University Professors, a national organization formed in 1915 that is concerned with issues facing professors on both a national, state, and local level. These issues range from academic freedom, tenure issues, and ideas about suitable salary and hours of classroom instruction. The American Association of University Professors, Augustana Chapter records contain publications, annual meeting notes, membership reports, and policy reports from national meetings, 1956-1975. There is a series with the Illinois’ conference constitution, annual meeting notes, and publications ranging from 1955 until 1977. Also contained in this collection are the notes from the Augustana Chapter. Included in this part of the collection are meeting minutes, the constitution, newsletters, and some varied correspondences with dates ranging from 1936 until 1983.
