Moline Water Power Company records
Abstract
The Moline Water Power Company was an organization formed in 1865 by prominent men in the area, such as John Deere and John M. Gould, with the purpose of granting permission and overseeing the utilization of water power from the river. This collection contains a large variety of government documents. Included in this collection are governmental forms that commission the founding of Moline, Illinois and Sylvan Island beginning in 1836. The collection proceeds into a series of documents about the Moline Water Power Company, including minutes, financial reports, agreements between Moline Water Power Company and other Government agencies, correspondence dating between 1879 and 1958, blueprints and maps, photographs, publications, and articles.
