Abstract
The Rock River Navigation and Water Power Company was chartered by the state of Illinois in 1867. The company was created to construct a canal at Milan and for creating water power. The finished canal was named the Sears Canal in honor of David B. Sears, a well-known local town and dam builder..Materials in this collection include a charter, by-laws, reports, stocks, congressional reports, correspondence, photographs, financial records, advertising materials, applications, stock and real estate information, blueprints, statistics, and tax documents.
