The African Students Association (ASA) was founded in 2017. The goal of the organization is "for anyone with African descent to have a common place to talk about issues that affect Africa and share thoughts and ideas," according to the organization's first president Wilma Nnoke.1 Soon after the organization was founded, they organized African Festival (Afro Fest) aiming to celebrate the various countries and cultures of the African continent through food, music, and performances.2 The group drafted a constitution in May of 2018 which was signed and adopted by the groups members. Since its founding in 2017, the ASA continues to hold meetings and host events.
