Historical Note
The Augustana Dance Company is a performing arts group formed at Augustana College by Velda Williams in spring 1983. At the time of its founding, Chris Schlenker acted as the group's faculty advisor. The group is entirely student-run, and the dances in its performances are choreographed by its members.
According to its website, the Augustana Dance Company's mission is "to introduce culture and art through the creativity of dance to the Augustana community as well as the Quad Cities." As of 2015, the group is still active on campus, giving regular performances and hosting an annual dance clinic. It also regularly collaborates with another dance company on campus, the UNYK Multicultural Dance Troupe.
