Overview The Runic Honor Society of Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, was founded in the spring of 1933 by a group of seven male students. The purpose of the society was to recognize academic achievement and service among Augustana students. Originally, membership was open only to men, but women were included in the society beginning in 1937.
