Overview John P. Magnusson was born December 12, 1872 and grew up in western Minnesota. He received his B. A. from Gustavus Adolphus College (1898), M. A. from University of Minnesota (1902), and Ph. D. in Chemistry from Cornell University (1907). Overview Mel Peterson was born July 30, 1930, in Moline, Illinois, to Oscar and Jeanette Anderson Peterson. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Augustana College in 1953, and then obtained a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University.
