Collection on Augustana College study abroad programs

Abstract

The Collection on Augustana College study abroad programs was compiled to document alumni's study abroad experiences for a 2013 homecoming reunion event. Program dates recounted range from the 1960s to the early 2010s. A majority of the materials collected consist of emails from alumni and digital reproductions of photographs from their trips. Also included are five postcards mailed from Europe, and three oral history interviews.

Augustana College Udden Geology Club notebook

Abstract

The Udden Geology Club was founded in 1933 and is named in memory of Dr. J.A. Udden, an Augustana graduate of 1911 and later professor of biology and geology. The Udden Geology Club notebook contains lists of different club events and the members who attended each of them from 22 April 1988 to 15 May 1992.

Augustana College Women's League records

Abstract The Augustana Woman's Club (later called the Women's League) was founded in 1917. Women enrolled in any Augustana College department were eligible to join. The constitution of the club was soon amended to include women faculty members and wives of the faculty. Many of the activities organized by the club were social in nature while other activities were service-related. The Augustana Writers' Club (Also written as Writer's and Writers) was founded in 1937 by English department head Dr. Henriette C.K. Naeseth. The Augustana College Writers' Club records, 1947-1955 and undated, contains a scrapbook spanning the years 1947-1955 and a student publication entitled "Loomings."

Augustana Dance Company videotapes and program

Abstract

The Augustana Dance Company was formed at Augustana College by Velda Williams in spring 1983. The Augustana Dance Company videotapes and program includes original VHS videorecordings of performances and dress rehearsals, 1989-2000, and DVD preservation copies of the recordings. Also included is a program, 2000, for a joint performance of Augustana Dance Company and UNYK Multicultural Dance Troupe.

Augustana PRISM Alliance records

The Augustana PRISM Alliance provided support to Augustana College students of all sexualities and genders. The group also worked to educate the campus community about issues faced by the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community. The Augustana PRISM Alliance records, 2004-2009 and undated, consists of one faculty advisor's binder with the group's constitution, meeting minutes, financial records, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and ephemera.

Beta Omega Sigma records

The Beta Omega Sigma social club (fraternity) was founded at Augustana College 10 December 1929. The organization is known as the “BOS." The Beta Omega Sigma records include fraternity meeting minutes, information about fraternity events, photographs, a fraternity newsletter, and an Augustana Observer article about a fraternity member.

Abstract Olof Zakarias Cervin graduated from Augustana College in 1887 and went on to study architecture at Columbia University. After working as an architect in various cities, Olof returned to Rock Island and established his own architecture firm on 1 April 1896.
