Abstract David Carlson attended Augustana College in the early 1970s. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology, and went on to earn his doctorate in Oceanography from the University of Maine, Orono, Maine, in 1981. He became a professor at the College of Oceanography at Oregon State University from 1983 to 1990.
