 Series — Box: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Emily Envall Dahlberg papers, 1889-1895 and undated, largely span less than four years of her life, beginning with her year as a student of music at Augustana College in 1889. The papers, in both English and Swedish, contain information about her studies, social life, and relationship with Johan G. Dahlberg. The papers are arranged in five series: Notebooks, Letters, Account Book, and Miscellaneous Writings and Publications, and Photographs.

The Notebooks series contains two notebooks from her year at Augustana, detailing social and academic life. The Letters series contains four letters written by Emily, in a mix of English and Swedish, and two letters written by Johan G. Dahlberg, written in Swedish. The Account of Playing and Music Lessons series contains the records of payment received by Emily for music lessons and church and funeral services at which she played the organ in Galesburg in 1890. The Miscellaneous Writings and Publications series contains a religious tract, three published photographs, handwritten materials signed by E.A. Edlen, and a catalog of Augustana College and Theological Seminary for 1890-1891. The Photographs series contains photographs of the family gravestones in Galesburg.
