Letters to Hasselquist, 1881-1888
Scope and Contents
The Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist papers, 1840-1988 and undated, primarily documents the personal and professional life of the second president of Augustana College, Tufve Nilsson Hasselquist. Also included are papers from T.N. Hasselquist’s wife, Eva Cervin Hasselquist. This collection has been arranged into five series.
Series I: Correspondence (1852-1897 and undated) contains personal and professional letters and copies of letters from Hasselquist’s time as president of Augustana College, together with letterpress books copied by Hasselquist.
Series II: Writings (1876 and undated) includes Hasselquist’s unpublished works, including books, sheet music, and notes on various subjects.
Series III: Sermons (1840-1891 and undated) comprises sermons written by Hasselquist and several collections of sermons copied by Eric Norelius.
Series IV: Biography (1858-1988 and undated) includes articles, publications, and tributes to Hasselquist both during and after his time at Augustana. This series includes one sub-series, Eva Cervin Hasselquist (1870 and undated) which consists of several manuscripts written and translated by Eva Hasselquist and a diary documenting a trip back to Sweden in 1870.
Series V: Augustana College and Theological Seminary (1860-1887 and undated) consists of letters and endorsements by and for students at Augustana College and Theological Seminary by faculty and staff, including Hasselquist.
