Historical Note
The College Interclass League at Augustana College and Theological Seminary formed in 1903 with the object to "promote interest in literary and athletic work among the students of the four college classes" (College Interclass League Constitution, undated). Membership included all students in the College Department who were taking a minimum of 10 hours of regular college work. Interested members of the league met periodically to organize and arrange events such as athletic contests, oratorical contests, and debates. The group's meeting minutes suggest that intercollegiate debates were the most regularly held events.
