Content Description
This collection includes items collected by Paul Joseph Horick, Jr. during his time as an undergraduate student at Augustana College and Theological Seminary. It contains biographical information, a photograph of Paul Joseph Horick, Jr. with his father, Paul Joseph Horick, Sr., Phi Omega Phi materials, Homecoming ephemera from 1944, a copy of the Augustana Observer published on 21 September 1944, and a letterman's sweater with a separate varsity letter 'A'.
The Phi Omega Phi materials include a formal dinner invitation, one issue of the POP Patter newsletter dated August 1945, and a Phi Omega Phi Alumni Association membership card. The Homecoming materials include a 24-page booklet and two copies of a banquet menu and program.

Historical Note
Paul Joseph Horick, Jr. was born on 6 May 1922 in LaGrange, Illinois and experienced a childhood illness that resulted in total hearing loss and partial blindness1. He enrolled at Augustana College and Theological Seminary in 1941 and graduated in 1945. While at Augustana, he earned a varsity letter in track, was a member of the Phi Omega Phi (POP) fraternity, was inducted into the Sigma Gamma Epsilon national honorary geology fraternity, and served as the Senior class treasurer2. After graduating, he continued his studies in geology at the University of Iowa3. Horick married Claudia Jan Ringgenberg in 1958 and they had one daughter and one son. Horick died on 30 January 2013 in Iowa City, Iowa4.
