Charles Sabbath papers
Scope and Contents
The Charles Sabbath papers, 1949-1953, contain correspondence, registration materials, coursework, student life materials, and publications. The bulk of this collection consists of academic papers and notes, materials relating to course registration, and music compositions.
The Correspondence series (1950-1951) contains letters written to Charles Sabbath before his official enrollment at Augustana College in 1950. Letters tend to focus on the process of transitioning to college life, including housing guidelines, tips on upcoming registration, and information about Augustana College financing. The Registration series, 1950-1952, includes materials relating to enrollment and registration for 1950, 1951, and 1952. Registration day layouts for the Gymnasium and Old Main and fee assessment slips are also included in this series.
The Coursework series, 1950-1953, contains notes, graded assignments and papers, exams, ‘original compositions,’ and worksheets from classes taken by Charles Sabbath during his time at Augustana College. The Student Life series, 1950-1952, contains student handbooks, meal cards, schedule planning notes, a copy of “The Dorm News,” and class program schedules. The Publications series (1951-1953) includes a list of Augustana Observers from 1950-1953 which belonged to Charles Sabbath but have been separated from the collection. Also included are Augustana Bulletins with schedule markings, final examination schedules, and class schedule booklets. All materials were published by Augustana College.
