Abstract
The Augustana College audiovisual collection, 1930-2016 and undated, contains video recordings (including films, videotapes, and digital video) and audio recordings (including audiotapes, audiocassettes, and compact discs) related to Augustana College and the Quad City community. Recordings capture campus events, interviews with Augustana faculty and staff, promotional footage, musical performances, religious services, radio broadcasts, and other topics.
Arrangement
Physical recordings have been housed together according to size for preservation purposes. In most cases, this physical arrangement does not mirror the intellectual arrangement of the collection. Consequently, item numbers and box numbers are rarely sequential within any given series. In this finding aid, materials have been intellectually arranged in loose alphabetical order.
No original recordings have been reviewed due to risk of damage during playback. As a result, Special Collections staff relied solely on existing labeling information to describe and categorize the recordings in this collection. It is possible that certain recordings' actual contents may differ from their labels.
Original item titles and descriptive labeling have been retained, when possible.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
This collection was created by Special Collections staff. The collection was formed from several smaller subsets of recordings that had no traceable provenance or donor information. Some of the promotional films were received from the Augustana College Office of Human Resources in September 2015.
