The Williamson family papers, 1854-1950 and undated, primarily includes the papers of Thomas S. Williamson, a missionary to the Dakota Territory who collaborated with Stephen Riggs on a Dakota translation of the Bible, and Thomas's son, Andrew Woods Wililamson, who fought for the Union Army during the American Civil War and participated in the Dakota Uprising of 1862. The Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) was originally organized in late 1874 as a movement of American women. The organization was most concerned with nonviolent protest against the dangers of alcohol. The Collection on local Woman's Christian Temperance Union chapters, 1909, 1922-1925, contains a report from a 1909 convention hosted by the WCTU of Rock Island, Illinois, and a book of minutes, 1922-1925, from meetings of the WCTU of Davenport, Iowa.

Karl Yost was born on February 11, 1911 in Beloit, Wisconsin to Lloyd and Gertrude (Morgan) Yost. He earned his doctorate of jurisdiction from Northwestern University in 1934.
