Sven Gustaf Youngert immigrated to the United States from Sweden in 1886 at the age of 25. He studied at Augustana College and Theological Seminary for six years, until he was ordained as a minister in 1892. Throughout his life, he alternated between serving as a pastor for church parishes throughout the country and teaching at Augustana Theological Seminary.
