Historical Note

The Sigma Pi Delta sorority, nicknamed the “Speeds”, was founded at Augustana College in 1908 by eleven members of the S.P.D. Tennis Club. It was the first Greek organization on the Augustana College campus. In 1970, the Speeds gave up their charter, but the sorority was reinstated in 1980 with the help of Dean Betsy Brodahl. The Sigma Pi Delta sorority remains active at Augustana College today, making it the oldest sorority on campus.
