Historical Note
Ephraim Manning was born December 31, 1908 in Uitca, New York. He married Louise Nascher on September 12, 1937. Manning graduated from City College, received a master’s in bacteriology from New York University, and attended medical school in Zurich, Switzerland. Manning worked as an eye, nose, and throat physician in Davenport, Iowa, from 1949 until 1993. Both Ephraim and Louise were members of the Black Hawk Hiking Club, Friendship Force of the Quad Cities, and Viewfinders Camera Club.

Ephraim and Louise Manning were interested in participating in the Quad Cities community and its history. They were members of groups such as the Black Hawk Hiking Club, Friendship Force of the Quad Cities, and Viewfinders Camera Club. Materials in the collection include newspaper clippings on local history and historic homes, world affairs, local news, and medical news; photos, slides, scrapbook pages, and cassette tapes.
