Phrateres, Omicron Chapter records

Abstract

The Phrateres was an all female organization for college students centered around socialization, leadership, networking and service. By 1944, there were 13 official chapters, including one at the University of British Columbia, making it an international organization. Augustana College's chapter, Omicron, was founded in 1941. The Phrateres, Omicron Chapter records, 1940-1945 and undated, contains the group's constitution, meeting minutes, bulletins, the group song, and other records.

Phrenokosmian Society records

Abstract The Phrenokosmian Society is one of Augustana College's oldest student organizations. According to their constitution, the object of the Phrenokosmian Society was to "promote a Christian life, literary improvement, and intellectual development in general among its members." Pi Upsilon Gamma newsletters

Abstract

Pi Upsilon Gamma was a fraternity active at Augustana College from 1916 to 1993, when its charter was revoked due to violations of the college hazing policy. This collection consists of one box of newsletters entitled the “Pug Service Growler.” This newsletter was distributed to PUG members and alumni during and immediately following World War II to update the membership on the wartime activities, locations, and deaths of members serving in the armed forces.

Abstract

Portrait in the Attic was a sixth-grade art history program developed by Augustana College art history professor Catherine Carter Goebel and funded by the William Butterworth Memorial Trust. The Portrait in the Attic collection, circa 1990s and 2002, contains an introductory booklet and CD-ROM for teachers to use in preparation for participating in the program and four folders of photographs.

Pressel family papers

Abstract

Paul Pressel was born in Germany. He later moved to Moline, Illinois, and became a citizen of the United States in 1890. He and his wife had two sons, Harry and Ernest. The Pressel family papers, 1890-1967 and undated, contains correspondence, postcards, and legal documents created by four members of the Pressel family: Paul Pressel, Harry Pressel, Ernest Pressel, and Jane Pressel Kaminski.

Lenora Purdy papers

Abstract Lenora Purdy was born 16 July 1912, to Edward Purdy, an employee of the Iowa Telephone Company, and his wife, Antoinette Blaser-Purdy. Lenora had one sister, Erma (1913-2002), and they both attended the Davenport public schools. These included Monroe School, West Intermediate School, and Davenport High School. Quad City Symphony Orchestra papers

Abstract The Quad City Symphony Orchestra held its first concert on May 19, 1916 at the Burtis Opera House in Davenport, Iowa.
