Abstract

Portrait in the Attic was a sixth-grade art history program developed by Augustana College art history professor Catherine Carter Goebel and funded by the William Butterworth Memorial Trust. The Portrait in the Attic collection, circa 1990s and 2002, contains an introductory booklet and CD-ROM for teachers to use in preparation for participating in the program and four folders of photographs.

Pressel family papers

Abstract

Paul Pressel was born in Germany. He later moved to Moline, Illinois, and became a citizen of the United States in 1890. He and his wife had two sons, Harry and Ernest. The Pressel family papers, 1890-1967 and undated, contains correspondence, postcards, and legal documents created by four members of the Pressel family: Paul Pressel, Harry Pressel, Ernest Pressel, and Jane Pressel Kaminski.

Lenora Purdy papers

Abstract Lenora Purdy was born 16 July 1912, to Edward Purdy, an employee of the Iowa Telephone Company, and his wife, Antoinette Blaser-Purdy. Lenora had one sister, Erma (1913-2002), and they both attended the Davenport public schools. These included Monroe School, West Intermediate School, and Davenport High School. Abstract The Quad City Symphony Orchestra held its first concert on May 19, 1916 at the Burtis Opera House in Davenport, Iowa. Henry Reck notebook

Abstract

Henry Reck was born near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 24 August 1829. He was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 1852 and served two congregations and two orphanages until he was called to teach at Augustana College in Paxton, Illinois, in 1871. The Henry Reck notebook contains lecture notes dealing with apologetics, Bible study, and theology in general; these notes appear to be from his time at Gettysburg Seminary.

Rho Nu Delta records

Abstract

The Rho Nu Delta fraternity, also known as the “Roundels” was founded January 22nd, 1925 with the purpose of promoting good fellowship, of fostering high scholarship, of increasing interest in higher education, and of supporting the college in all its activities. The group did not exist for a number of years, but was refounded in 2009. This collection consists of the Rondel constitution, as well as a membership certificate.
