Rockety-I records

The Rockety-I, Augustana College's yearbook, first appeared in 1912 and was published annually under the same name until the 2003-2004 school year. The records contained in this collection pertain to the creation of various editions of the Rockety-I, particularly the 1931 and failed 2006 editions. Charles John Sabbath was born 4 September 1930 in Muscatine, Iowa. He entered Augustana College in September 1950 as a sophomore transfer student from Muscatine Junior College. The Charles Sabbath papers date from 1949 to 1953 and measure 0.5 linear feet. The collection contains correspondence, registration materials, coursework, student life materials, and publications.

Abstract

Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) is an international women's music fraternity founded in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1903. Augustana College's chapter, Delta Tau, was founded in 1965 and still exists today. The Sigma Alpha Iota, Delta Tau chapter records, 1950-2018, is organized into three series: Chapter records, Scrapbooks, and Photographs.

Abstract

Sigma Kappa Tau was founded as "the QTs" at Augustana College in 1909. The group faced periods of declining membership and financial struggle before stabilizing and ultimately renaming itself Sigma Kappa Tau. The Sigma Kappa Tau records, 1917-2012 and undated, is arranged into five series: Officers' papers, 1910-2010; Sorority activities, 1946-2007 and undated; Pledge books, 1963-1964 and 2015; Photographs and scrapbooks, 1917-2012; and Realia, 1962-1966, 2006-2009 and undated.

Abstract Thomas W. Sims received his bachelor's degree in English at Augustana College in 1936. He served overseas in the Army during World War II in the ordnance department. Abstract Jane Tiedge was a non-traditional student at Augustana College in the mid-1990s who became a staff member in the Office of International Programs. She was encouraged in her studies in history and religion by professor Ross Paulson. Tiedge's research as a student and later as an independent scholar focused primarily on Sister Ingeborg Nystul, a Lutheran missionary to China. Abstract Harriet Rachel Wheeler was born on 23 June 1903 in Davenport, Iowa. She attended Cornell College before enrolling at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois in September 1924. Bernard Y. Wickstrom was a student at Augustana College from 1947 until 1950. He was an editor for the Augustana Observer, president of the Augustana chapter of the Alpha Delta Journalistic Fraternity, and a "Poobah."
