Carl J. Peterson papers

Abstract

Carl J. Peterson was the construction foreman for the contractors who built Wallberg Hall on the Augustana College campus in 1934. He was also the designer and architect of the Augustana College Bell Tower. The Carl J. Peterson papers, 1921-1936, contains materials on three projects with which Peterson was affiliated: the Augustana College bell tower, the class of 1936 bulletin board, and the lowering of Zion Hill.

Abstract John P. Magnusson was born December 12, 1872 and grew up in western Minnesota. He received his B. A. from Gustavus Adolphus College (1898), M. A. from University of Minnesota (1902), and Ph. D. in Chemistry from Cornell University (1907). Before accepting a professorship from Augustana College, Magnusson taught and worked in administration at several high schools and then was an instructor at Cornell while he finished his graduate studies. Abstract Mel Peterson was born July 30, 1930, in Moline, Illinois, to Oscar and Jeanette Anderson Peterson. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Augustana College in 1953, and then obtained a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University. Abstract

Roger w. Peterson was a 1947 graduate of Augustana College. In 1963, after serving as vice-president of Marshall Erdman and Associates he because Augustana’s first director of development. Peterson then returned to Marshall Erdman. This collection includes photographs of Peterson, including his time in the military during World War II and his time at Augustana both as a student and administrator.

Phrateres, Omicron Chapter records

Abstract

The Phrateres was an all female organization for college students centered around socialization, leadership, networking and service. By 1944, there were 13 official chapters, including one at the University of British Columbia, making it an international organization. Augustana College's chapter, Omicron, was founded in 1941. The Phrateres, Omicron Chapter records, 1940-1945 and undated, contains the group's constitution, meeting minutes, bulletins, the group song, and other records.
