Victor R. Pearson papers

Abstract Victor R. Pearson was a student and professor of Augustana College. Pearson was born in Nebraska in 1892. He was a member of the Augustana College class of 1915 and the Augustana Seminary class of 1917. He served in World War I as an infantry chaplain. Pearson returned to Augustana and earned his doctorate from the seminary in 1924. He returned to Augustana College to teach religion and philosophy in 1935, from which he retired in 1960. Carl J. Peterson papers

Abstract

Carl J. Peterson was the construction foreman for the contractors who built Wallberg Hall on the Augustana College campus in 1934. He was also the designer and architect of the Augustana College Bell Tower. The Carl J. Peterson papers, 1921-1936, contains materials on three projects with which Peterson was affiliated: the Augustana College bell tower, the class of 1936 bulletin board, and the lowering of Zion Hill.

Abstract John P. Magnusson was born December 12, 1872 and grew up in western Minnesota. He received his B. A. from Gustavus Adolphus College (1898), M. A. from University of Minnesota (1902), and Ph. D. in Chemistry from Cornell University (1907). Before accepting a professorship from Augustana College, Magnusson taught and worked in administration at several high schools and then was an instructor at Cornell while he finished his graduate studies. Abstract Mel Peterson was born July 30, 1930, in Moline, Illinois, to Oscar and Jeanette Anderson Peterson. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Augustana College in 1953, and then obtained a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a doctorate from Oklahoma State University. Roger w. Peterson was a 1947 graduate of Augustana College. In 1963, after serving as vice-president of Marshall Erdman and Associates he because Augustana’s first director of development. Peterson then returned to Marshall Erdman. This collection includes photographs of Peterson, including his time in the military during World War II and his time at Augustana both as a student and administrator.
