Abstract

The Gustavus Adolphus Club was formed at Augustana College and Theological Seminary on 15 October 1911. Membership was open to all Gustavus Adolphus students as well as Augustana College students. The Gustavus Adolphus Club records is a small collection consisting of a single bound book of club minutes from 1911 to 1916.

Abstract Niel M. Johnson graduated with a B. A. from Augustana College in 1953. While in college, Johnson was active in the Rho Nu Delta fraternity, the Augustana choir, and was a reporter for the Observer, the college newspaper. Verna Gail Applegate attended Augustana College from 1949 to 1953. She was a member of the Chi Delta sorority, and her junior year she sang in the chapel choir. Abstract The Kappa Epsilon Nu sorority, known as both the “Kens” and the “Kappas”, was established as a sorority at Augustana College in 1925 by Leota J. Norton, Ester Woodburn, Florence Tams, Eleanor Graham, Ethel Eldrige, Charlotte Schnathoist, Kay Bragg, Helen Searle, Natalie Souders, and Frances Long. Abstract Clarence Woodrow Sorensen, the sixth president of Augustana College, was born in Nebraska in 1907. He studied and traveled all over the world, producing fifteen books about his geographical studies, before coming to Augustana College.
